After upgrading my modem to an ARRIS TG852 before Christmas, I decided to call Comcast yesterday to ask about getting an X1 self-install kit to see if I could add the new receiver to my account, since I already have TV and HSI service.
I asked how much my bill would go up per month if I kept all my current service levels and didn't add anything, but swapped out my Motorola DCX3400 DVR set-top box.
After putting me on hold for five-plus minutes, the CSR came back and told me she couldn't tell me because the X1 self-install kit wasn't available in my Comcast Keystone Region area. If I wanted X1, I had to schedule a service call and pay the associated fees for installation/activation.
I said thanks but no thanks. Anybody else try to get a self-install kit and get shot down?
