[Connection] How Line Amps work

I am lucky enough to live in a neighborhood with extremely poor cabling and equipment. I've had a number of issues related to line and signal quality that is on the actual main line and not in my home ever since I moved in. Just this year, I've started developing a better relationship with the local techs and they have actually been great at fixing these issues. So far, there have been three amplifiers replaced and a main line cable that was found to be corroded (the copper/main conductor). I also believe there is a lot more work that needs to be done as I'm still having problems. I was wondering how the Comcast Line Amplifiers (the ones up on the poles) work in terms of the frequency. Does one line amp boost 0Mhz to 100Mhz, and another further down the line boost 100Mhz to 500Mhz? Do they all boost everything from 0Mhz to 700Mhz? I've recently had issues with two channels that are located in the lower frequency spectrum (69Mhz, 72Mhz, and 100-somethingMhz) while others work OK. I also have a huge dip in the frequency right before the cable modem frequencies at about 630Mhz to 650Mhz). When they fixed one amp over the weekend, it boosted the signal from ~50Mhz to 100Mhz and fixed the channels. I still see a dip between 630 and 650. I also see T3's and errors on my cable modem. So, I'm wondering how the amps work and if there's still work that needs to get done...
