Went to the nearest Comcast store today to swap out a Thompson DTA that died.
I was given a Cisco DTA30.
Got it home and connected it and got the message to please wait while a software update was downloading. The message said it would take about 20 minutes.
2 hours later and the message is still there.
Tried to activate it online and by calling Comcast.
The green LED blinks 3 times then is off then blinks 3 times again, repeatedly.
Went into the diagnostic screen and the signal level is 1 dBmV.
None of the channels have been downloaded into the virtual channel map.
I'm going to take it back and exchange it, but before I do I would like to know: are Cisco DTAs universal and will work on a Motorola system, or will they only work on a Cisco / Scientific Atlanta system?
I've seen a Motorola, Thompson, and Pace DTA all work on a Motorola system, but this is the first Cisco DTA I've seen. So when I go back to the Comcast store for an exchange should I insist on a non-Cisco DTA?
