Ok; Here is the deal. My Mom and Dad moved to a fancy retirement home in Naples Florida a year ago. Dad liked to watch auto races so had some HD deal with Comcast and a small Infinity set top box, Equipment listed on the service order PKG WQWNHS and H213183CIC84.
Charges:
XFINITY Bundled Services $59.99
XFINITY TV $9.95
Additional XFINITY Voice Services $8.00
Other Charges and Credits $1.02
Taxes Surcharges & Fees $3.19
Total $82.15
I wish I had tallied these up before calling the service department. Instead I looked at a much larger recent bill with tons of extras in the Other Charges and Credits. Charges for service calls etc to sort out problems.
Well Dad died in July and Mom watches no TV and simply wants Internet. She does not need 75 MBPS, she does need a phone and the router/wifi modem. So I called the sales department and tried to reason with an obtuse character with a heavy accent named "Sid". I told him all I wanted was the free basic cable already provided to residents plus the internet/wifi and phone. I spent 15 minutes with him reading a script and avoiding the question of the bottom line. In frustration I picked a package.
What I ended up with was a package for $79.95 plus tax 25 MBPS/Phone/Modem/Analog cable. As you can see I feel duped because for the same price the internet speed is 1/3 what she had and the TV is free analog.
My questions:
1) What happened to the $59.95 bundled package deal my wife was told about when she called weeks earlier?
2) How do I shop for the right package for Mom?
3) Do we need to send back the HD set top box to Comcast? Do we need a convertor box to get the free basic cable for our cable ready TV?
4) Is Mom going to be hit with an install charge? She needs no help in hooking the TV up.
Advice appreciated
