I have no knowledge of how converter boxes work, so please forgive the ignorance within, and explanations for a Kindergarten level understanding are appreciated.
I have one newer TV that can get the 4 digit programming, and 2 older TVs. I get a Basic cable signal*. One of the older TVs is a 200 lb'er that can do early vintage HD, the other cannot. My basic signal includes 4 digit channels. I wonder if a converter box for our two older TVs would:
A - work in this scenario
B - suggestions for a decent low end unit that can do PVR
My audio is the Neanderthal style TV speaker(s) only, so audio in / out (if applicable) is not a concern.
* The way it works here is that I subscribe to Internet only, but Comcast never bothered to block the basic signal in this region. I would test to see if this is still true before buying said converter. Our need is that we have new occupants in the house, and more TV screens would be a good thing. The new occupants watch network shows, and I can barely watch network content with the extreme commercials content. I would like to move the network folks to the converter box TVs, and use the digital TV for non-commercials content, or something like that...
