I just received a Pace XG2v2 set top box from Xfinity. What is this strange little thing?
A week or so ago, while upgrading to a triple play bundle, I mentioned that my X1 set top box clock display had a dead segment in the hours digit, making the clock apparently read the wrong time (i.e. 6 looks like 5). NBD, but Xfinity sent me a self-install kit to replace the box. Fine... However, what I received is a Pace XG2v2 box.
Immediately I saw that the clock problem was solved - the XG2 box does not have a clock at all. :-(
I then started looking into this box on the web and can find very little about it - other than debates about DVR and whether it has 4 tuners or none. Some say it's just supposed to be a thin client box to pair with an X1 box that actually has tuners.
Questions:
a) Will this box serve as a replacement for my current box?
b) Will this box allow DVR?
c) Is it worth me even bothering to set it up, or should I just slap the return label on the box and forget it?
