I don't know if I'm just having bad luck, but I've had 3 cable boxes die during thunderstorms in the past year. The first occurrence left 2 boxes dead and one of the TVs completely dead, the other with dead HDMI ports (all three of them). The second occurrence was yesterday, with a corresponding TV/Internet outage in the area, which killed a third TV and its X1 box. I had DirecTV for 18 years and never lost any equipment.
Anyone else had similar experiences? This is going to definitely figure into my decision as to whether to keep comcast or go back to DTV when my contract ends this spring.
