[Comcast Equip] Volume Up/Down on XR2 remote seems to have double the effect

My setup: Motorola RNG110 connected via HDMI to an LG HDTV (which itself is connected via optical to my Vizio sound bar). I have a Motorola RNG110 box but also noticed this on the HD DTA so it seems to be a general problem with the Comcast remote (XR2). One press of the Comcast remote's volume control results in a change equal to 2 presses of the original TV remote's volume control. For example, to go from inaudible to a loud volume, it will take only 4 presses on the Comcast remote's volume up. Using my TV's remote while watching the same program on the Comcast box, it takes about 7-8 presses of the volume up to get to that same loud volume. My question is how do I change the stepping of the volume up/down on the Comcast remote as it does not seem to be calibrated correctly? I have the remote paired to my LG TV, box is connected via HDMI. I tried the other LG remote codes, the volume issue is the same. In the Audio setup of the box, I tried to lower the volume in the Optimal Stereo setting > select to Optimize (screen shot attached of that screen), however I can't seem to change that volume setting using any of the buttons on the remote (I tried volume up/down and direction arrows). The remote is paired to my LG TV, do you need to pair it with the Motorola box to be able to control that setting? If so what is the remote code for the RNG110 as the Motorola codes I tried didn't work.
