It looks like some of the SD channels are now just downrez copies of the HD. The problem is, they are anamorphic, but still being broadcast as 4:3. That means they are vertically stretched. This Comcast forum thread mentions it:

On a similar note, I noticed that Smithsonian seems to have 16:9 flag, but it's not anamorphic, so it's stretched horizontally!!
