[Comcast Equip] Cable Box Question

Please excuse my questions if they seem a bit 'uneducated', but my older age (74) has me trying to play catch-up in this modern hi-tech world. I recently got talked into accepting the cable TV deal from Comcast in addition to the internet only I was find with. So I got this 'comcast cable box' that I am suppose to hook up to my existing 'system'. I previously had a nice Surfboard modem, and a good Netgear wireless router that covered my whole house with internet. So my laptops and my desktop in the back room all receive a good quality signal. And my new 4K large screen smart Phillips TV does a find job with an external antenna picking up HD over-the-air transmission TV from Jacksonville FL Now they send me this 'Comcast cable box', and I'm trying to figure out how to hook it up. In the first place the instruction book must assume you only watch TV and don't go on the internet.///that is the manner in which I read the instructions. There is no provision for utilizing my old modem and wireless router? Is this 'cable box' of theirs some sort of modem (or gateway), or whatever is the terminology they throw around for these equipments? Do I have to use this piece of grap?, or can I make use of my existing modem and wireless router? Or does their 'remote control unit' have to work with this box of theirs? If I have to make use of their cable box, how do I wire it in? I was hoping to be able to leave my outdoor antenna hooked up to my smart TV via co-ax, then hook the 'cable box' to an HDMI connection on the TV. Then I might be able to switch back and forth between 'over-the-air' signal, and the comcast cable signal by utilizing the input selection function on the smart TV ?? And then I need to figure out how to get the internet signal to my wireless router? please help
