[Cable Box] Comcast drops WTXX / "this" - then has CAE

Admittedly, my viewing habits, times and preferences are unlikely to be all that commonly encountered - but that said, comcast cable had added WTXX to my market (CT - I'm on the border in MA) back in 2009. I really enjoyed this station as it was one with 24hr actual broadcast content - no "paid programming" infomercials. I am quite often awake at the hours most folks are asleep (2:00-6:00 AM) and had found that the "this" channel ran all sorts of very enjoyable programming during those hours when virtually no other stations are broadcasting content other than paid programming. Old movies, old TV shows from the 50's & 60's - and good old TV - "Highway Patrol", "Sea Hunt", "The Outer Limits" - shows none of the other "oldies" channels ever show. Plus they have their own, unique line up of animation and children's shows, plus one of the most eclectic selections of old movies anywhere. In short, it was a "go to" channel if nothing else was watchable, and a favorite destination around 3 or 4 in the morning. About 2 weeks ago, it disappeared from the "expanded basic" lineup. Occasional missing channels are not that unusual, so I called customer care and got a recording saying "we are aware of channel issues in your area and it is being repaired - ie: "go away". When, after a week or so, it had not been "repaired", I went to look for it, thinking it was no longer available on my particular plan, and found it was no longer listed among the channels comcast offered at any level of subscription. A subsequent call reached a live CAE (and I have been a comcast CAE, albeit rather briefly) who said she'd look into it for me. Pu me on hold for a few minutes and came back saying: I spoke to the folks in "Service" and they said they had found that there was (and I quote) "a short-circuit that was letting through some unauthorized channels" which had been fixed and here's $20 off you next bill (to make you go away). My major gripes are two - first of all, if you're going to lie to me, do a better job of making up a story, and second, it sorely gripes me that as the cable bill gets larger and larger, comcast has seen fit to reduce my already slim selection of decent channels by dropping one of my favorites - from among the very small group with bearably watchable content - and you feel compelled to lie to me about it. Tell me no one else watched it, tell me they raised their price, give me something believable - " undetected short circuit" my dear Aunt Fanny - I mentioned this to the CAE saying, do you expect me to believe this was a technical glitch which was allowed to go on for over 4 years?. This, of course, was the point at which she granted me the $20 to go away. I'm wondering if anyone has ever had any luck at all complaining about dropped channels and gotten them reinstated - if so, to whom or what level do I need to complain? This is my first post to this forum - so forgive me if I'm merely re-exploring well-travelled and hopeless territory. Thanks in advance for any ideas about how to shame them into restoring this lost channel.
