Hi everyone -
I cancelled my Comcast service that I had for about 15+ years (back even when service here was Time Warner) back in 2009. I switched to AT&T Uverse. At the time, I thought I would never go back to cable.
Comcast had the coax line (drop) running to my house all along my back fence up to the house. It was not buried and just exposed above ground. It had been that way for the entire 15+ years I had cable service.
Anyway, since I figured I would never have cable again, I cut the coax line at the point it came on my property and threw away the entire coax cable from the point I cut it to the house. (probably about 20 to 30 feet of cable)
Now I want to sign up for Xfinity.
My question is - will having ripped out that line cause any problems? I suppose it should be a simple matter for the installer to just run another line (drop) to my house, correct? I live in a residential neighborhood in a major city with about 200 houses.
Maybe they would have had to do it anyway, since an above ground line that had been out for 20+ years may not be reliable anymore anyway?
