A few years ago I got Comcast Xfinity triple-play promo which was $119 at that time, plus a fee of $8 for a modem rental and $7? for the HD DVR rental.
Since that promotion ran out, I had forgotten to check the Comcast pricing since it gets auto-debited. I was very shocked to find that they are currently debiting around $250/month for the triple play service - $180 for service, some fees for HBO and Showtime which used to be included in the promo for a year, plus DVR, modem rental, and some other fees and other taxes on top of fees.
I'm thinking of downgrading to the following:
>> Digital Preferred plus One Premium Includes Digital Preferred and
choice of HBO®, Showtime®, Starz®, Cinemax® or The Movie Channel® $32.45
>> Economy Plus Internet $39.95
and possibly a DVR (non HD would be fine, I don't really care).
With this I'd have to buy my own Internet modem (fine) and also I'd consider moving the phone line to a VOIP provider rather than having it as a triple play.
Any thoughts on this? I can't believe it's $3K/year in Comcast at the moment.
