I had X1 installed in my home last Friday. One HD dvr in the living room and one sad tv converter box in the bedroom. For the life of me I cannot get the X1 to play back from the hard drive. All channels work, no pixilation on either tv, just no playback. Pause, rewind and fast forward functions work in the living room as should. I have 2 calls into tech support, two different ticket numbers, and still no call back from Comcast. I'm ready to ditch this and go to satellite. On 2 different nights the box tried to download updates, once it stalled at dl 14 and the other at dl 05. Four days and nothing. Please help before I return to dtv!

[TiVo] Is this my TiVo's fault, or over-compression by Comcast?
I recently watched a couple of HD episodes of Mad Men that my TiVo Premiere recorded recently (I think they were episodes 5 and 6 of this season ("The Runaways" and "The Strategy" respectively), and noticed in spots what I would describe as skipped frames, that made the video look weird for a few seconds while the audio sounded normal, and stayed in sync. It wasn't digital artifacting. Did anyone else notice something like that? I only noticed it in that show so I don't think it's my TiVo. Would too much video compression cause this?

[Content] Channel Notices in April Bill
Program Correction Notice: Canal 52MX will not be removed
from your channel lineup. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Effective March 28, 2014 Shalom TV On Demand will no longer
be provided by Comcast.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: On 3/19/2014, Bloomberg HD
was added to Expanded Basic channel 814. Effective
5/29/2014, Bloomberg HD will no longer be available on
channel 1216, but will continue to be available on channel 814.
814 has been the HD location for WGN America on Comcast systems that offer it (i.e. Monmouth,Union and Somerset/Princeton(aka Central New Jersey II).
telcodad once you are able to read your bill i am curious if Comcast Monmouth has given you notice for a new WGN America HD location?
As on 3/28 Bloomberg is not yet on 814 here on Comcast of Central New Jersey (Middlesex). The "814" is not even mapped. (WGN was dropped here in december 1998 or early 1999)

[X1-X2] In what markets is X2 common?
I am working on a project about internet streaming and set top boxes. I need to collect a comprehensive collection of screenshots of the X2 interface. Does anyone have some recommendations of cities or towns I should look in for someone who can assist me?
Ideally, it would be close to the San Francisco Bay Area or close to Ohio where I have resources.
Interestingly we already tried looking in the Bay Area but among our friends and colleagues and their networks the few Comcast customers only had the really old blue interface. All the other services I've had fairly good luck finding people but nor for X2.
Thanks,
Jeff

[Content] DTA and cable card missing channels
Wondering if anyone else, especially in the Royal Oak (MI) system is having this issue. Today I noticed that somewhere between 5 and 10 BASIC CABLE channels are missing on BOTH of my DTAs.... AND on my Tivo (with cable card). The DTAs pop up the channel number and the three letter channel acronym but the screen is blank. The Tivo says the channel is not subscribed.
I called the Comcast support number and they were 100% clueless. Best they could offer was replace the DTAs (did it, didn't help) and send a technician. I have a tech scheduled, but I can't imagine what a technician can do here..... all other channels work perfectly.
At no time were they willing to explore the possibility that the Comcast system is screwed up. In fact, they didn't even seem to think that was possible.
After I gave up on the phone support, I went into the local Comcast store. They tried to be helpful but they claim they have NO additional assets to call on.... they call the same 800 number that I do. And I'm here to tell you that the 800 number has takes a SERIOUS turn for the worst lately. Where I used to be able to reach someone who knew the system is I asked to be escalated, that doesn't seem to be an option any more. EVERYONE I spoke with had no specific information about how channels might get de-authorized and ALL seemed to be reading from scripts.
I'm typing this while on hold for the retention department, but I don't think they have any clout any more either.
Oh, and I thought the channel lineup was wrong too, but that was because the Comcast store gave me a lineup for the wrong system!
So...... anyone else notice missing channels?

[X1-X2] Weird Screen on Cable box for few days

I have turned off the box several times by pressing the button
I have connected another device using same HDMI cable and that is working correctly.

I had X1 since mid May last year. Previous generation box I had issues with and upgrading to X1 was the last straw I thought. In last year I had techs come in and service several times. Just when I was done battling internet connection issues now I have this...
Can I get 2 solid months of service without interruptions (by now I have lowered my standards and restarting the cable box does not mean interruption).

[Praise] Some love for the Comcast Installer
I'm moving to an ocean-adjacent home in norther CA, where I wanted triple play installed. Home is old (like most on the coast) but last had functioning Comcast service in October of last year. Went for a self install... got video but no sync on the modem... so truck roll time.
Tech was right at the end of his window, but comcast called mid-2 hour window to let me know he might be late - good on them for keeping me informed...
Tech looked at what was probably 15+ year old salt air corroded drop from pole, and splitters from the Jurassic era, and starting walking the neighborhood to get access to the pole. Spent an hour getting a new drop in from the pole to the house, replacing splitters, and pulling a new line to the room housing the modem.
Modem has insanely clean power levels now.
Just wanted to share a positive story :) Some of these folks are awesome.

[Content] Comcast of Central NJ Middlesex to add KVNV 3 MeTV on July 31st
The cross country move of KVNV from Ely, NV to Middletown,NJ/New York has not yet been made as far as I know, but according to Comcast of Central New Jersey's (Middlesex County) June bill we now have launch date likely for all Comcast systems in the New York DMA.
Basic; TBS ch 21 will move from Limited Basic to Expanded
Basic; Community Access will move from ch 3 to ch 26; and
TVGN SS ch 26 will no longer be available. Effective July 31,
2014 KVNV SD and HD will be added to ch 3 and ch 803
respectively.
Effective 7/16/14, access to FearNet On Demand via channel
166 will be discontinued.
It should be also noted that Comcast of Central New Jersey in Mercer County (and other Comcast systems in the Philadephia DMA) added KVNV's Wilmington,DE/Philadephia(Via Jackson, WY) sister station KJWP on channels 2 SD and 788 in HD back on February, 27th but did not give it the prime 802 position in HD as they are now aperently giving KVNV 803 in HD in the New York DMA.

[X1-X2] Background Darkness Level for Xfinity X1 DVR
I have an Xfinity X1 DVR and noticed a setting under Preferences called "Background Darkness Level".
The possible values for this setting are 1 through 11. When I try setting it to different values I don't really see any difference in the picture.
Can anyone shed some light on what this setting does and make some suggestions as to what to set it to?

[Connection] Comcast told me my cable wire was too tight?
On one of my TV's, every once in a while I can't get certain HD channels to come in as the screen stays black and it says its finding the channel. I called Comcast and the technician told me my wire was too tight, and to unscrew it for a few seconds, and then screw it back in. It worked as the channel came in. The problem is this is becoming frequent, so every once in a while I have to take the time loosen the wire and then screw it back in to get certain HD channels to come in.
My question is what should do for the long term? Do they need to replace the cable wire? Do I need a stronger signal sent to my cable box? It doesn't happen to my TV upstairs, so this is an isolated problem on my one TV downstairs.
Thanks!

[Connection] prewired home - active account
I have a few questions about comcast and transferring their service. I have an active account with comcast, i wanted to transfer my service to my new apartment but was allowed to because my account is past due. i have now moved into my new apartment with my service still active, and when i hooked my cable boxes up to the pre wired cables my service channels came in and my internet and phone is working fine with no problems. so will i get in trouble for using my service in the new apartment without transferring it here. does it mean its still have an active account at this apartment i just moved to and thats why my service is still working. or does it matter is the people that lived here before cancelled their service or not as long it was pre wired by comcast and my boxes is still active, then it will still work.

[Audio] Anyone else having NATGEO audio issues ?
My two STBs are the small Motorola 700 ones: one hooked up to a newish, flat screen TV (2 yrs old) and the other to my beloved RCA TV that is older than dirt (CRT).
Is anyone else experiencing muffled audio on the NATGEO channel? I have to turn the volume waaaaaaaay up and it's still weird sounding. If I channel surf with those settings, I could get blasted to a new galaxy from the volume ! The commercials on NatGeo come though very, very loud.
It is ONLY the NATGEO channel. And trying to watch any NATGEO ondemand or streampix is even worse.

[Install] Will I be able to get Xfinity after having ripped out my line?
Hi everyone -
I cancelled my Comcast service that I had for about 15+ years (back even when service here was Time Warner) back in 2009. I switched to AT&T Uverse. At the time, I thought I would never go back to cable.
Comcast had the coax line (drop) running to my house all along my back fence up to the house. It was not buried and just exposed above ground. It had been that way for the entire 15+ years I had cable service.
Anyway, since I figured I would never have cable again, I cut the coax line at the point it came on my property and threw away the entire coax cable from the point I cut it to the house. (probably about 20 to 30 feet of cable)
Now I want to sign up for Xfinity.
My question is - will having ripped out that line cause any problems? I suppose it should be a simple matter for the installer to just run another line (drop) to my house, correct? I live in a residential neighborhood in a major city with about 200 houses.
Maybe they would have had to do it anyway, since an above ground line that had been out for 20+ years may not be reliable anymore anyway?

[HD] Pixelating Channels
Some of channels like 658 and 662 and a few more are pixelating and breaking up bad.
I have three tvs on this line and two of them are fine. Also those channels on regular SD are fine also. How can just a few channels be doing that and not all of them?
I checked all the connections for snugness and unplugged the HDMI cable and reset the box.

[Bill] Comcast Triple Play Visa Gift Card Scam
I was installed on 6/22 with Triple Play and should have received a $150 Visa Gift card. I have called and chatted and tried every 800 number support has thrown at me and each time I'm assured it will be handled and it NEVER IS.
6 months now!
This is likely one of those scams where they say they'll send you a rebate or gift card and they just give you the run-around until you go away.
Very frustrating. Will never fall for this again.

[X1-X2] Xfinity X1 now available to New Customers
I just heard a brand new radio commercial for the new Xfinity X1 cable box on local radio station 94.1 WIP Sports radio. But like others have said its currently only available for new residents and customers :( I am a long time Triple Play customer and I wonder if I called up and complained if I could get comcast to hook me up with a few X1 boxes? My guess not very likely :( But the good news is at least its here for new customers so maybe spring or summer 2013 it will be available for the rest of the Triple Play customers.
If anyone here in Philly gets it maybe you can give us a nice review with some photos and video :)

[X1-X2] X1 streaming enabled in the SF Bay Area on 4/15
I've been obsessively checking the XFINITY TV mobile app for Cloud DVR and streaming access on my account. Until yesterday it informed me service was still limited in my area, but now the message has changed.
"Good news! XFINITY TV on the X1 platform is now available in your area. Please call 1-800-COMCAST to order."
When I called, the first agent to respond had no idea what I was talking about, I had to be transferred to the X1 department. The lady there had never done it before, so we both kinda walked each other though it. All she really needed to do was punch in an activation code.
On my end, I had to log out and reauthenticate in order to pair my iPad with my account. I was afraid I'd have to set-up a connection to my IP network via MoCA or ethernet, but unlike AnyPlay, the X1 hardware doesn't seem to have anything to do with the service from a technical standpoint.
A cursory look through the interface suggests the Cloud DVR functionality hasn't been rolled out for Bay Area accounts yet, just live streaming.
