I posted this in the Direct forum but wondered if you guys had any problem with this. The system used to work great for me until several weeks ago. Maybe just a coincidence but the problems started at the same time I saw on my account online that I had Cloud DVR added to my list of services and when we were forced to switch to the XFinity TV app instead of the TV GO app.
Problem:
All my Cloud DVR recordings have consistent skips only when viewed on a PC or my tablet (not on the in home DVR). The skips are always in the same locations when when I watch a given show, even if I back up the recording and re-watch it. The skips are consistent in time/location even when the shows are watched on different devices so it is pretty evident the problem is with the recording as it sits out in 'the cloud'.
Last night I watched Vikings and there is a 5-20 second skip (hard to know how long) for every 1-3 minutes of viewing. It is really bad because the characters will be talking and then you will miss a critical part of the conversation! A similar thing happens with The Walking Dead. There is no problem when I watch the shows from my in-home DVR which is also recording them.
The quality of the video is perfect and there is no pixelation or anything. The skips come w/o any warning and they are 'perfect' time shifts where you are instantaneously shifted forward in time like a section of the video was just clipped out and then the video was sewn back together.
When I view the shows on my tablet, the skips are still there, in the exact same spot, even if I download the entire show to the tablet first and then watch it (so there is no streaming issue). I don't know if downloading is even possible on the PC so I have not tried that.
How can this skipping problem with the Cloud DVR be fixed? I don't believe there is any problem with my signal levels but I will post them here nonetheless.
