My parents (and maybe me) are moving to Florida in the near future. We currently have Optimum Online and DirecTV but with all the rain, we might have to go cable. As it stands, our option might end up being Xfinity.
This will be a new construction. As it stands, we're gonna get TV. I'm a millennial and I still prefer to watch TV (don't try and convince me otherwise). However, I'm very tech savvy and don't want ANY MORE CoAX in the house.
Of course, I'm gonna need it for the TV and the internet but I don't want to wire CoAX into every room. Rather, I want to wire fresh Cat6a Ethernet into every room. The only problem is the TV service and I don't want to deal with streaming services. Nothing beats the number pad remote.
So obviously, I'll run CoAX from the outside into a centralized networking closet which can go into the cable modem and main cable box. However, can I take advantage of Ethernet and use my LAN to wire up the extra boxes or am I forced to run CoAX to every other part of the room? I realize I can do TiVo now too but all that could get expensive and also, the X1 platform looks kinda cool.
