I'm in a two year contract and wan't to change my plan. I have a double play now with lots of channels that I don't watch and does not include HBO. I would prefer a lower double play plan that includes HBO. At first cost is only a little less, but I would get HBO. In a few months my second year goes up $20, so at that point the cost savings is more.
The question is, does changing plans trigger the penalty fee? The way I read the contract it's only charged if you cancel all service. I was wondering if anyone did this and what was the result.

CMT in Sports Entertainment Package
I am a fairly new customer on Digital Starter (November). My wife said last night she tried to set up the new season of Nashville (CMT) to record on our Tivo Bolt, but the box said Channel Not Authorized. I missed seeing that our package didn’t include it. (My bad)
Stopped by the local service center today and was surprised to find in is included in The Sports Entertainment Package as the only non-sports channel. They gave me the package for $5 a month but just thought that was a strange package to put that channel in.

[Other] Devices showing on account online?
We just transitioned our legacy TV and Internet plan that Comcast had retired to one of their current standard Double Play plans with Digital Preferred and Performance Pro Internet. After the change, I was checking our account online and noticed that it now showed 2 devices under TV when we should just have a CableCard listed.
"TV 3" Serial Number: PKKWJTLMX
"Set top box" B SATIVPMHT Serial Number: 0350139952278
The first would be our CableCard in our TiVo. The second would appear to be an STB, but we have not had a STB in over 10 years. Last time I checked this page which has been quite a while we only had the CableCard listed (about a year ago when I turned in 3 other CableCards from older TiVo's).
Is that a Comcast STB number (B SATIVPMHT) or is that somehow associated with our TiVo for the VOD? We haven't received our first bill yet but online under manage plans it does show Service with TV box under equipment rentals & service fees (see attachment).
Thanks!
Scott

Comcast turned off my internet and tv for about 3 hours and about 5 minutes after tv ( X1 ) came back on it said it was time for the box to update. The box updates about every 3 or 4 days.
I was wondering why box needs to update when they just updated their system according to the automated phone geenie.

TiVo Notches Win in ITC Patent Battle with Comcast
TiVo shares rise as ITC issues ‘limited exclusion order’ prohibiting importation of certain DVR hardware and software
By Jeff Baumgartner, Multichannel News - November 21, 2017
http://www.multichannel.com/news/content/tivo-notches-win-itc-patent-battle-comcast/416736quote:TiVo shares rose more than 10% in after-hours trading Tuesday after the International Trade Commission handed down a final ruling finding that Comcast had violated two TiVo patents.
According to the notice posted today https://www.usitc.gov/secretary/fed_reg_notices/337/337-1001_notice11212017sgl.pdf , the ITC, following its investigation, has issued a “limited exclusion order prohibiting the importation of certain digital video receivers and hardware and software components” and had “issued cease and desist orders…directed to the Comcast respondents. The investigation is terminated.”
In addition to Comcast, other respondents in the ITC case include set-top suppliers such as Technicolor, Arris and Pace Ltd. (Arris acquired U.K.-based Pace in January 2016).
“Rovi is pleased the International Trade Commission issued its final ruling in our favor and found that two Rovi patents are valid and infringed by Comcast’s X1 products, and issued an exclusion order that bans Comcast from importing and selling X1 devices that infringe our valuable intellectual property,” Rovi, a TiVo company, said in a statement. “Today’s Commission Opinion reinforces the need for Comcast to take the necessary licenses to our IP.”
:
Comcast issued this statement: “We respectfully disagree with the ITC’s decision in this matter. In fact, Rovi has never disputed that Comcast or its predecessors independently developed our X1 platform and our cloud- and app-based technology. While we believe the ITC reached the wrong decision, we will remove this feature from those offered to our subscribers while we pursue an appeal.”
The feature Comcast is referring to is functionality that lets video customers schedule DVR recordings remotely from mobile devices that they would watch later via the set-top box. ...Also on Bloomberg News: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-21/tivo-wins-u-s-trade-case-against-comcast-in-royalty-fight

Comcast Tv Go...Gone?
For the past few days, most of the channels that had been on TV Go are missing. One such example is CNN. Up until recently, I could watch it on the tablet app, or on the computer. Now a search shows "Channel Not Found". Furthermore, if I go to the CNN app and try to log in through Xfinity, it tells me that the channel in not included in my service!
I've attached the list of what channels are still available.
Is this a temporary problem, or a change to what's available on TV GO?

[X1] Recordings on DVR vs Numbers shown on Stream App
I've noticed this issue before but only recently took the time to dig a little deeper. I have the XG1v3 DVR and use(rarely) the Xfinity Stream App. I have quite a few Disney Jr shows recorded for my young granddaughter to watch. I notice there is a difference between what the DVR shows as recorded vs what the Xfinity App shows available.
For instance on the DVR it shows:
Puppy Dog Pals - 7
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - 11
Little Einsteins - 49
plus a few other current recordings for a total of 69 which appears correct.
However if using the Xfinity App on my phone or Tablet the numbers are not the same.
Puppy Dog Pals - 7
Mickey Mouse Playhouse - 2
Little Einsteins - 24
plus the same few others for a total of only 35 recordings available.
Now I realize when I am using the Stream App to watch a show I am not actually watching the content of the DVR itself but simply watching something stored in the Cloud. As I'm typing this I'm thinking what could be happening. I know that On Demand programming is only available for a certain length of time due to contractual negotiations. So perhaps some of these Disney Jr shows that were recorded months ago(this X1 box is not quite one year old yet) may not be available on demand anymore so the ability to view them using the Xfinity Stream App via Cloud basically makes them unavailable after a certain date.
Any ideas?

[X1] New ARRIS XG1v4 DVR

On the X1 TV Box Comparison page https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/x1-hub-vs-companion-box/ , a new "ARRIS XG4 XG1v4" X1 gateway DVR box is now shown to be available in "select markets only."
The Feature Comparison table at the bottom of that page indicates that it has 6 tuners, but similar to the non-DVR XG2, can only pause and rewind live TV up to 25 minutes, most likely by using an SD card also.
There's also an article about it on the Light Reading site today, which reports that it is supposedly 4K/UHD and HDR capable:
Comcast Appears to Soft Launch First 4K DVR
By Mari Silbey, Light Reading - May 19, 2017
http://www.lightreading.com/video/4k-8k-video/comcast-appears-to-soft-launch-first-4k-dvr/d/d-id/732973quote:Well look what the Internet turned up. On a Comcast support page, the cable operator is now referencing an Arris XG4 DVR set-top, available in select markets only. The specs on the page don't advertise it, but multiple sources have told Light Reading that the product is a set-top that supports 4K Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) video. And it may be Comcast's first 4K box on the market.
The XG4 DVR ... is reportedly going live now or in the near future in limited markets, which would explain why the product is showing up on an X1 support page. It's noteworthy, however, that Comcast doesn't reference 4K support among the specifications. Comcast has already been dinged for falling behind on its 4K roadmap, and the company may be wary of promoting a product launch until the DVR has gained some traction in the field.
Comcast has not yet responded to a request for comment about the DVR.
Among the specs that Comcast does list for the XG4 are six TV tuners, a 25-minute buffer for pausing and rewinding live TV, compatibility with the X1 voice remote, and support for AnyRoom DVR and X1 TV apps. ...
EDIT: that X1 TV Box Comparison page has now been updated to label this as the "XG1v4" there: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31468910-
I have therefore updated the subject line of this thread accordingly.
