Was sent a letter today from comcast saying I now have to pay an HD Technology Fee while using a Tivo. Anyone else in South Jersey receive this?

[X1-X2] Xfinity X1 now available to New Customers
I just heard a brand new radio commercial for the new Xfinity X1 cable box on local radio station 94.1 WIP Sports radio. But like others have said its currently only available for new residents and customers :( I am a long time Triple Play customer and I wonder if I called up and complained if I could get comcast to hook me up with a few X1 boxes? My guess not very likely :( But the good news is at least its here for new customers so maybe spring or summer 2013 it will be available for the rest of the Triple Play customers.
If anyone here in Philly gets it maybe you can give us a nice review with some photos and video :)

[Comcast Equip] If your SetTopBox gets 'bricked' by an update, ...
Like my housemate's  Motorola DCH70 was (3 green blinks, 2 yellow blinks, die at Power-On),
be aware that Activation of a replacement box (e.g. Motorola DCT700) may be operating with
obsolete accounting data :o dating back to your acquisition of the older box ...
So make sure you're still getting all the channels you're paying for :p
... and if not, first have Tech Support get you working :D,
... and then be thorough with Billing when next they open :uhh: .
One more thing: if the STB is packaged with a remote, it may have obsolete paper instructions.
We got a Red-OK-Button (5/'11) remote with instructions for an old Grey-OK-Button (9/'03) version.
(Newer remotes often take a 5-digit device code; older models may take 4-digit codes. ;) )

[X1-X2] Is the second X1 DVR supposed to have a MoCA filter
Tech came to install second X1 DVR, he said it would only be a standalone DVR so he'd have to put a MoCA filter on the line coming in.
Does this seem right. I took the MoCA filter off and called CS and had the AnyRoom enabled on both DVRs. I'm wondering if this was a coding issue with the order for a second X1 DVR.

[Content] NJ- Not receiving Big Ten Network with digital adapters
Hello-
I'm on the Ocean County, NJ system and was wondering why I can't access the Big Ten Network on any of my digital adapters? I recall seeing in the July bill that it would be moving to Expanded Basic on 8/27, but it's not currently in the channel map.

[X1-X2] x1 won't respond to remote (all 4 boxes)
I have 4 x1 boxes. 1 dvr and 3 non-dvr boxes. On all of the boxes I can't get the remotes to work. I recognizes the remote but nothing happens. Won't change channels or show guide or anything.
How can I fix this? I did reboot all 4 boxes already.

[Bill] Comcast has lied AGAIN and raised my bill $30 in a week
Once again Comcast made a promise to give me services at a reduced rate to make up for bad service. In less than a week they rescinded the offer saying it was "not authorized". They then shut my cable and internet off until I agreed to a package that was $30 more than the initial promise. I've filed with the FCC, BBB and the local cable franchise authority.
The customer service is bad in a legendary way

[HD] HD DTA worth using???
Currently I have the Motorola DCX3200/C385/011 and the Arris DCX3200/C385/011. I've heard that Comcast does have HD DTA boxes that have The HDMI port to recieve High Def channels and are much smaller and cheaper to rent each month. Does it get a on display TV Guide or Xfinity On Demand???

[Rant] email address for corporate office.
I decided to go with a DVR today so removed my old HD box, cleaned it up and took it to our local Xfinity store to trade it for a DVR unit.
When I got home and unwrapped the DVR unit I couldn't believe what they gave me.
The front of the Motorola DVR unit looked like someone with very sticky hands had rubbed across the front. I could see the finger prints and drag marks. The top still had dust on it. I should have taken it back right then, but it was getting late, raining really hard and it's several miles to the Xfinity store so got out the turpentine and goo gone and cleaned up the front as best I could.
The fan had a bunch of dust and what looked like animal hair of some kind in it so cleaned that out with canned air.
It looks like the unit was never looked at or cleaned and just shrink wrapped and a remote thrown in there.
I have no problem at all companies using used equipment. I worked for the telephone company for many years and that was SOP, but everything was repaired and cleaned before it went out,to send something like this DVR out is a joke.
I don't know if these are done locally or sent in from a warehouse somewhere, but if Comcast is paying a 3rd party, they are being ripped of big time.
Would like to send Comcast a complaint, but don't know were to send it.
Thanks

[Comcast Equip] Can I cancel Comcast cable by turning in my DVR?
There are multiple horror stories on the internet (so they must be true!) about multi-hour hold times for people trying to cancel their service. It once took me 5 hours (elapsed time) and 4 phone calls (disconnected 3 times) to simply put my service on vacation suspension so I know how horrible the Comcast phone system is.
If I decide to ditch my TV service, can I take my DVR to my local Comcast outlet and have them take care of it? My experience with the walk-in store has been pretty good, typically no more than 15 minutes standing in line. It would sure beat spending hours on the phone or on hold and be a lot less aggravating.

[Comcast Equip] Need help getting my companion box replaced with a second DVR
I've talked to customer support multiple times about being tired of dealing with the laggy and unresponsive companion box. I've seen how now you can have multiple dvr's on the same wholesome setup. My arris xg1-a performs very well and I just want a second one of those. Every time I talk to support they just want to send a tech out to check the companion box.

[Comcast Equip] Motorola HD-DTA Black Screen
I know there were some recent issues with the X1 system, but the issues I have been having were happening far before this weekend. I have one of the Motorola HD-DTA boxes in my bedroom. I don't always watch TV in there, but occasionally I will turn on the news in the morning before work and when I turn the TV on, its just a black screen. The green light is on the front of the DTA, even when I change channels, it shows the channel I switched to and its name, but there is no video or audio.
This only seems to happen when I don't use it for several days. Unfortunately there isn't an easy way to reboot the little box as far as I know without unplugging the power cord and plugging it back in. It takes 15 seconds and then viola, everything comes on like normal.
Is this a common issue, or an issue anyone else has ran into?

[Price] Comcast Offered Deal, then took it away
Where does one begin. A few weeks ago I called Comcast to fix a problem that has been going on for a year, after that was resolved I asked to lower my bill. Here's where the fun begins. I was sent to retention and after a good back and fourth he came back and said all TV service will remain the same, but I'll bump up your internet and make it $102.88 ( for 1 year).
This was a deal I could live with! it was a deal! 20 minutes later my channels were gone, not to be found except for basic cable and 4 movie channels. I was livid, so I called Comcast back and said where are my channels? the woman looked at the account and said she'd shoot a signal this was after being on hold for 1 hr and 38 minutes!!!!! oh and I was also sent to the West Division even though I'm on the East Division and that happened 3 times. Long story short at 11pm a woman finally figured out that to get me that deal he took all my channels away???? she restored them, but said you need to call back tomorrow to retention..... I did, and the woman said that deal can't happen, I said it needs to be honored, yada yada, she told me a supervisor would ned to call me back. It's been 2 weeks no call, I did however call again.
This time the woman was more helpful, she also said there's no way that deal should have been offered, I said well something needs to be done? why should I have to eat whatever you put in front of me? I just have to accept, Oops we messed up, sorry Next!. That isn't right, something should be done. The woman offered me upgraded dvr boxes, I said sure, they ( Comcast) came Wed to install and lo and behold, we don't have a strong enough signal for the boxes, alas we get nothing.
Way to go!!!!!
