[HD] Do HD versions of channels come with Digital Economy tier?

$

I'm in Portland, Oregon in case it makes a difference. My thinking is that one should be able to get the HD versions of whatever channels one subscribes to--HD shouldn't be "held hostage" behind a higher-priced tier with a bunch of channels one never watches (like the ESPNs in my case). More data: I have a Tivo Premiere DVR with Cable Card--not using a Comcast set-top box. I'm also a Comcast internet customer, and have the Blast! tier.

[Cust Svc] Comcast increases bill, now won't answer their phone

So XFINITY sends me a letter informing me that they have "found that you are not being charged for one or more of the following Additional Outlet or DTA equipment" Strangely enough, they also state that "effective with your next bill, you will be billed $17.45 for these services plus applicable taxes and fees." I did install a Silicon Dust cable-card tuner one year ago, and I suspect they have decided to make some money on it. Silly me, I thought cable cards were a free service the cable companies agreed to provide when they were allowed to go all digital. Anyway, the $%^&* at Comcast have decided to quit answering their phones. When I call them, a clearly automated system promises to call me back in one or two minutes. It does that, exactly, as promised, them promptly hangs up on me. I repeated this drill four times in one half hour. For about ten cents, I would tell XFINITY to stick their entire system with its non-existent customer support (and my about to be $200 bill) where the Sun don't shine.

[Cable Card] Cable Card Missing Locals

For the last few months I have been missing the locals CBS,NBC,ABC.... on my authorized CC in my HDHomeRun Prime with WMC. All other channels are fine. I have clear and reloaded channels using diag routines on HDHomeRun. Seems the locals are not in the channel table. Anyone know who to contact at Comcast to see what is going on? [VOD] On Demand System Problem; Charging for All Shows

No one seems to know what the issue is, but many many folks are having this problem since yesterday. For instance, HBO subscribers are being told by On Demand that they must add a subscription to view HBO content, and free content is being listed as "Buy" though there are no prices. Just a thread here for info if anyone has it and for people to see this is not a unique situation instead of starting 20 new threads.

[Video] November bill and insert surprises

Fun stuff on my November bill and insert: Effective Jan 1, 2015 due to increased business costs, the charge for both hourly Service Calls and in-home service calls will go from $60 to $70. My favorite, however, is the insert: "If you have a complaint regarding your cable television service or your bill, please call the toll-free telephone number listed on the reverse side of this insert, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." Now you'd think that meant a special number to call, right ? That number to call (on the reverse side of the insert is ......... (drum roll, please) 1-800-COMCAST !!!! Some other special stuff for those of us in Michigan, basically stating if we have a problem with our cable TV that we are allowed to file a complaint with the Michigan Public Service Commission. Ahhh, we've always had that option :D. So we have that number on the insert to call about our bill that's available 24/7, huh? Comcast is having billing available 24/7? Wanna bet that Billing is NOT going to be available 24/7 after all ..... -- Please support Great Lakes Bengal Rescue, a 501c3 charity. [X1-X2] X1 Freezing and Error

Recently our standard X1 box has started acting up. Sometimes the Switching to HD message sticks to the screen and I have to restart the box for it to go away. I think it even happened once with the on-screen Caller ID. Last night we received error RDK-00104 and had to restart the box. Does this sound like a software or hardware issue? Wondering if we should ask Comcast for a new box. Thanks in advance!

[Cable Card] Appreciatoin

&nbsp Thank you, thank you, thank you to ComcastTeds on the Comcast forums for helping me with my cablecard issue. After two weeks of futility and frustration, trying to work with Comcast service to try to resolve the problem&sup1 (working with 1-800-comcast and the cablecard activation team), ComcastTeds resolved the issue in a few short hours. ComcastTeds, thank-you. Take a well-deserved bow. 1-800-comcast, and the Comcast cablecard activation line (1-877-405-2298): shame on you. For the customer disservice. And the "service charge" on my bill for my attempt to help Comcast. &sup1 - there was an issue with the cable drop from the telephone pole to my house and, as usual, the local service tech who attended the issue was very good in her tasks to resolve that cable issue.

[Cable Card] NFL Network HD channel missing since CBS Network simulcast ende

I haven't received my NFL Network HD channel since the end of CBS Network HD simulcast ended. I am supposed to receive the HD channel on Ch. 730 in my local area as included in my Digital Preferred channel lineup as verified on my account online and verified by the many customer service representatives I have talked to. This has been going on now for two weeks. I have spent over a dozen hours on the phone talking to level 1 and level 2 tech support in both the regular Comcast TV and Comcast Cable Card tech support. Nothing has been accomplished. I receive the SD version of the channel on both Ch. 180 and Ch. 417 with NO problem. I receive all my other subscribed HD channels with NO problems. Just the NFL Network HD channel is missing with the "No signal detected" error message showing. Tech support has sent authorization signals multiple times to my Comcast issued Motorola CC with no effect. Still waiting on service truck to roll to me. Anyone have any ideas what is going on? Been receiving this channel with no problems for several years until the last couple of weeks. Very unhappy with Comcast so far. The CC is used in a Moxi DVR for my cable service. Cheers, Keith

What exactly is a Motorola MSC DVR ? ... obviously not my equipment

[Content] Report notifications of Limited Basic tier encryption here

Recently, Comcast has started notifying subscribers that they will start encrypting the Limited Basic service (B1) tier http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/cable-tv/limited-basic-encryption/ Also see this article on GigaOM: http://gigaom.com/2013/04/15/comcast-basic-cable-encryption/ Once all channels are encrypted, subscribers will need a set-top box, digital transport adapter (DTA), or a retail CableCARD-equipped device to be connected to each TV. "Clear QAM" tuners in the latest HDTVs will not be able to decode them: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r26599395-Say-goodbye-to-ClearQAM An example of the notices that affected subscribers will receive, at least 30 days prior to the start of this encryption, can be seen here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28322985- If/when you receive such notice, please post your location and the start date of encryption in this thread. [Comcast Equip] Anyone else having issues with reminders not reminding ?

It's usually just a one-off thing, but for about the last 4 or 5 days, I'm finding several "reminders" not kicking on. I have the Motorola DCT 700 boxes; I set the reminders for 3 minutes before/1 minute after. None of them kicked in Tuesday evening (ID Discovery) and today only 1 of 4 set for AHC (formerly Military Channel) kicked in. It happens (or DOESN'T happen) on both boxes. Maybe Comcast is dabbling ....? Anyway, just curious if anyone else has this. I'd prefer to chew off my leg than call, lol. :D -- Please support Great Lakes Bengal Rescue, a 501c3 charity. [Connection] Outage in Wilmington, DE Yesterday

So apparently the majority of the city was out all day yesterday - Homes, Restaurants, Businesses. Most places had no credit card processing, TV at the bars, nada. And feedback from friends was the fix time was pushed back, back, and back again. Anyone have any info on what the issue was? Had to have been pretty huge to knock out an area that large - figuring either fiber cut or headend issue. Glad I moved back to FIOS in March. Co-worker just got X1 last weekend - just in time for the outages.

[Bill] Credits for X1 nightmare

As we've all noticed the X1 went out on Saturday and again on Sunday than again on Wednesday. I'm wondering if I should call in for the $20 inconvenience credit under the Comcast customer guarantee or will they automatically credit our accounts. How will they know who was affected. I know they used to give a $20 credit if you had a problem with customer service (such as multiple truck rolls or multiple office visits). -- Xfinity X1 Awesome Product Comcast: Buy out the Iowa cable market from Mediacom so my friends can experience X1

when I turned on my bedroom TV on a couple of occasions this week I had no sound, but did have video. I unplugged the box to reset and this cleared up my audio issue. This is only happening on my bedroom TV. Anyone have any idea if this is a known bug or what I can to to fix it?

[Price] Comcast Offer

Our triple play promo is about to expire so I called a week or so ago to see what was available. The loyalty rep offered the same price we have now ($119.99/month) with a 2-year contract. Not bad. I called today and was told it would be $119.99/month only for the first year but we could probably call up after the first year to have our rate adjusted again. I am almost completely sure the first rep did not mention this but oh well. Is that still a decent price? We have the HD Preferred triple play with just a standard X1 box and STARZ. We also pay $1.99/month for an HD DTA. Thanks in advance for your advice. EDIT: When we called to possibly order the rep said he could offer it to us for something like $109 for a year after tax. When I called back to verify I found out that he really just gave us $10 off for 3 months. But apparently the price for the remaining months will be $119.99 before tax which is still not bad. Hopefully it's true though. :D

Just noticed today that by me, the SD version of The Weather Channel is now just a downconverted, letterboxed version of the HD feed. I guess they gave up on the SD as the Lot8 kept falling further and further behind, or didn't work at all.

[X1-X2] Xfinity X1 Guide problems

$

I bounce back and forth between UVerse and Comcast at my home every 18 to 24 months. I am currently about one month into my latest run with Comcast. Occasionally (last night, for example), the guide becomes impossible to use. If I open the Guide while watching (just as an example) channel 1006, I can press the PgDn or PgUp key a few times and then the Guide suddenly resets itself to where it began, on 1006. Repeatedly. Extremely annoying, to say the least. I read somewhere that I should disable "Fast Guide" or whatever it is called in Settings -> Comcast Labs, but it is already off.
