If I try to stop or pause it doesn't. Is this only possible from the DVR box? If I get interrupted and stop or change channel. The On Demand doesn't retain where I left off. Is there a setting for this or is this just the way X1 works. It kinda stinks to have to watch from beginning again. Is there something that can be changed to work ON Demand like it did with older system?

[Comcast Equip] Pace PX001ANM noise
Anyone with this model notice they are pretty noisy?
Just had my install today, and this DVR makes a constant drone/whine. Sounds like the noise the old hard drives used to make. I can easily hear it even when watching something at moderate volume. But it doesn't matter if it's on or off, it makes the same noise.
Edit:
I didn't think the thing had a fan, but upon further research that's likely what I'm hearing. Very strange it keeps going even when it's "off".

[Comcast Equip] Modem settings
I had to replace my DVR (because of noise issues) and there were some errors and issues that took a restart to solve.
But while I was looking into the above, I noticed two things on the modem Status page:
1) MoCA has a red X - not sure if it was like this before I swapped DVRs.
2) It's set for Low Security, also with red X. I know this is how it was set when it was installed.
Are the above the correct defaults?

[Comcast Equip] DTA Guide Photo Tour
Starting 12/1/2014 the DTA guide became available in Maine. I haven't seen any decent documentation on how the guide operates (even Comcast's pages aren't specific enough!) so I'll explain it a bit for you guys.
First and foremost, compared to the X1 experience, the HD DTA guide is remarkably better. Yes, no On Demand, no Pay-per-view, BUT it shows twice the number of channels in one screen, AND each button press is immediate (no lag). However, the interface was clearly designed for 4:3.
DTAs now have a "Watch in HD" feature, but it is more similar to how legacy iGuide boxes work than the X1 boxes-- If a program is available in HD (it goes by program, if the program is SD and there is an HD channel available, it won't prompt for HD), a little help bar appears above the SmartBar saying to press OK for HD. Unfortunately, this isn't automatic like on X1.
Also, I noticed that by default the SmartBar was turned on. Also by default are "popup tab" help text. Basically it tells you exactly what will happen if you press OK while the SmartBar is visible.
My final thing of note is that the XFINITY button on the remote simply opens the settings menu, which doesn't make much sense coming from X1 (where you're encouraged to use the XFINITY button rather than the Guide button). However, the settings menu has a nice new Diagnostics tab.
All of these photos are of a Pace HD DTA on Limited Basic service.

[Rant] Downgrade Nightmare
Since our promo expired 6 months ago, we've been paying $280 for HD Preferred Plus TP with 2 X1 DVRs, 2 terminals, and the modem. That's $189.99 for just the package. Obviously, something was wrong there.
One of our members of our household did not have a smartphone yet, just a cheap Tracfone, so we decided to port our Comcast number to an additional T-Mobile line (only $10 per month!). We even got the smartphone (LG L90) for free with our T-Mobile referral cards. We still wanted to keep our same TV and Internet services. Obviously that would require re-bundling. We also bought our own modem, the SB6141 ($82 at Target) and router, the Linksys AC1200 ($42 with a Groupon).
The initial port-out caused Comcast to send me a new billing quote of $308 a month for my itemized a la carte services (ridiculous!).
My goal was to talk the rep into giving me the new customer offer of the Preferred Double Play with HBO included for $99.99/mo for 24 months. I calculated my equipment and fees to cost an additional $68 max.
Of course, that would just be too perfect. This morning, the number became active on the T-Mobile phone, so I decided to call Comcast and get ahold of retentions. Contacting the disconnect department proved impossible. Whenever I would press to cancel my services, it would say please hold and hang up. Every single time. I eventually contacted billing and asked for retentions, and they got me over there, but told me that they would probably not be able to help me today because the port was scheduled to be completed today, and it was still open. The representative contacted the port-out department to see if they could close that order out so she could make changes to my account. 30 minutes into the call, while on hold, the call was disconnected. Of course, no callback. It took another half hour to get ahold of retentions again. I asked if he would call me back if we were disconnected. He said no. He went on to tell me what I was asking for was impossible, and that I would have to pay $139.99 a month for the package I described (I used to pay that much for my current Triple Play!!!). He continued to argue with me about it, telling me I dont deserve a new customer package. This argument continued despite the fact that he would be unable to do anything to my account today because of the open work order.
I put in an email to we_can_help@cable.comcast.com. A lot of good that did. I had someone from corporate call me (didnt identify herself either) and tell me that the $308 I was quoted was the fair retail price for it and that I do not qualify for any promotions. She argued with me for twenty minutes, telling me that I do not deserve a promotion because I am not a new customer, and that if that does not make me happy, I am more than welcome to take up offers from other providers. However, she said she hopes we will stay. She said that I cannot get on another package because I terminated my promotion when I ported out my phone service. I hardly call $189.99 a month a promotion. The promotion was when I was paying $139.99 a month for the Triple Play, not full price. She even had the nerve to try to sell me back into phone service! She told me this is the industry practice. When I had WOW!, this was never the case. WOW! will always allow you to be on a new customer price, and the difference is a $5 year over year increase, but all you have to do is ask and they put you back on the new customer price. I dont really want to go back to WOW! now because I like X1 (especially the Cloud features) and Comcasts faster internet speeds.
Long story short, does anyone have any ideas as to how to get that new customer promo? Ive gotten new customer promos before, so I dont know why theyre being so hard-headed about it.
All I know is, if Im going to be paying $300 a month, they can forget about it. I'd sooner go off the grid.

[X1-X2] XR2v3 remote

Comcast says on http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/cable-tv/remote-program-the-xr2-or-xr5-to-control-a-tv that the difference is that the only difference between the XR2v3 and the XR2v2 is that the XR2v3 can control the tv's input.
but the differences between the XR2v2 and the XR2v3 are nore than that. I will list them.
going from the top of the remote to the botton of the remote and from left to right The color of the remote changed from gray to black, all power button changed shape, they added a tv signal button, the replay button has be replaced, they made the play/pause button 2 buttons, the exit/stop button has been changed to just a stop button and the image on the button is not a stop logo and moved the exit button to bellow the last button, changed the look of the info button, added a Fav button, got rid of the colors on the A-D Buttons, added the word help under the A key, and a skip button is added

[Comcast Equip] Suddenly getting charged for DTA
The apartment building I live in includes the "Broadcast Basic" TV package in our rent, Comcast lists us as a bulk account, though each resident must establish an account with Comcast. The TV portion on the bill simply has a credit for the amount of the package each month. I pay for HSI additionally. About 1 1/2 years ago, Comcast required us all to have a DTA to continue receiving the TV channels, they had representatives come to each unit and install the DTAs. They stated that we could have 2 DTAs for no charge. Since I had a HDTV, they installed an HD-DTA. So, for all this time I've had that and never saw an additional charge on my bill. Then this month I suddenly see a $9.95 charge for "HD Technology". I called and discover they're now charging me nearly $10 for the DTA they required me to have. The lady said she would take it off of my bill but she couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't be added back at some point and if I didn't want it I would have to return the DTA. This is so typical of Comcast. I don't even watch TV using the DTA, I use Netflix mostly and never watch "live TV". I knew this claim of anything "free" from Comcast was a ruse.

[Install] Install cost for 2500 foot line extension
Hello folks,
This is a very long story, but I'll cut it as short as possible. Last year, we bought a house in Washington State. Before we even made an offer, we confirmed with Comcast not once, but twice, that service was available. We were promised that not only was it available, a previous resident already had it, so hooking us up would be no problem. Great!
You can probably guess where this is going. After we moved in, Comcast tried to hook us up only to discover that not only didn't we have service, the nearest Comcast plant was 2500 feet from our door. Oops! This led to a month-long struggle just to get Comcast to acknowledge that we needed construction, during which they sent out six techs to try to hook us up to the cable that wasn't there.
Anyway, A week and a half ago, we FINALLY had a breakthrough and got them to come out and do some measurements to work up a line extension engineering plan. We just got a preliminary estimate of $50,000 to $60,000 to do the installation. Now, this sounds ABSURDLY high to us. That's about $22 per foot!
The first 1500 feet of cable from their plant would be aerial. The last 1000 feet would be trenched. I know for sure the trenching will be expensive, but there is no way I can understand $50,000. I've looked around here on the forum and found people doing similar runs for anything from $2500 to $15000, but nowhere near what we've been quoted.
I guess I'm just hoping for some perspective on this. Anyone else have similar experiences?

[Comcast Equip] Comcast Begins to Connect to Boxee's Cloud DVR
MSO Starts Limited Offer of E-DTAs That Let Boxee's New Video Device Access an Encrypted Form of Comcast's Basic TV Tier
Comcast has begun to make available a new type of Digital Transport Adapter (DTA) that will feed an encrypted form of its basic digital video tier to Boxee's new Cloud DVR product.
Comcast is notifying eligible Boxee customers about the E-DTA in "select markets" where Comcast has begun to encrypt its "B-1" tier, a spokeswoman said. She didn't reveal those markets, but noted that Comcast intends to phase in B-1 encryption in additional cities over the comings months.
The new device, called an Ethernet-Digital Transport Adapter (E-DTA), supports HD video and home networking capabilities. Its internal IP mini server turns encrypted QAM video channels into protected IP streams that can be shared with the Boxee device over connections outfitted with Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technology with DTCP-IP content protection. It's an integrated security device, so there's no CableCARD interface.
The E-DTA became a central figure during U.S. cable's pursuit of new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules that now allow operators to encrypt their basic service tiers in all-digital systems, a decision that prevents CE devices from receiving a small subset of unencrypted "Clear QAM" channels in basic tiers that include the major broadcast stations. Cable argued that basic tier encryption would help operators clamp down on service theft and reduce truck rolls because it would enable MSOs to activate and deactivate services remotely in the most cases. The FCC basic TV encryption ban was lifted on Dec. 10, 2012.
To help get it, the largest six incumbent U.S. cable MSOs (Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, Cablevision Systems and Bright House Networks), representing about 86 percent of all U.S. cable subscribers, agreed to let IP-based retail devices receive basic TV tiers without a CableCARD. Longer term, CE companies will also have the ability to license that technology and build it into their products.
Ealier on, Boxee and Comcast signed an separate agreement that focused on the E-DTA component that's now part of the FCC rule.
Among other conditions outlined in the new rules, operators are also on the hook to provide existing customers who take only the basic tier a set-top or CableCARD for free for two years after encryption begins. Customers who receive Medicaid and only take the basic tier can get that equipment for up to two TVs without charge for five years.
Boxee VP of marketing Andrew Kippen noted in an email exchange that the company is still finalizing details with Comcast but "you should start to see the E-DTAs begin to appear over the next month" as Comcast begins to notify Boxee users about the encryption process.
It was not immediately known who will supply the initial batch of E-DTAs to Comcast. The MSO buys other types of DTAs from sources such as Motorola Mobility, Pace, Technicolor and Evolution Digital.
Importantly, the E-DTA will enable Boxee to access Comcast's basic TV tier while preserving the Boxee user interface. Boxee's newest product, the $100 Cloud DVR (formerly called Boxee TV), supports a family of apps, including Netflix, as the name suggests, a cloud-based DVR. It can also receive free, over-the-air TV channels via a digital antenna. The Cloud DVR service is currently available in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Houston, and Washington, D.C., according to the Boxee Web site. The free version provides five hours of DVR playback a month, keeps recordings for up to 90 days, and only allows DVR playback on a TV. The premium, $9.99 per month version offers unlimited and perpetual DVR storage, and lets users access recordings on TVs, PCs, tablets and smartphones.
A Boxee spokeswoman confirmed that only the Boxee Cloud DVR (not the original Boxee Box) is eligible for the new E-DTA.
