[Content] Channel Frequency Shift in Philly Region?

$

I'm just north of Philly in Lower Buck Co. We had a cable outage overnight between 9/17 and 9/18. I noticed yesterday that Comcast has shifted all the channels that were between 700 and 750 MHz down below 500 mHz except for the Music Choice stuff that remains at 753 MHz. They even shifted several of the 500 MHz channels lower in the bands. Would this be due to the 700MHz+ interference issues that we've seen in my area ... probably due to cell interference. Or, would they be looking to expand the internet bandwidth which is currently running from 650-700 MHz. My neighbors were already complaining about pixelation and drop-out on certain channels. Sure enough I checked my cable boxes and there seems to be a large downstream power drop (around 5 db) and SNR drop centered around 333 MHz. It's not affecting my service yet, but I could see how folks with already weak signals could run into problems with those channels. What would be interfering around 333 MHz?

[Video] 1080p doesn't "stick"

After reviewing my install, I noticed the DVR for my main TV was set for 720p. So I changed it to 1080p. Looks great. But this setting is never "remembered" - I always have to change it from 720p to 1080p. What can I do to make it stick?

Hello Comcast Nation: Was wondering if Comcast has added any new channel the past 12 months? I'm asking as my father left Comcast last year and is yapping at me because they don't show the Weather Channel Anymore in Fios and is now wanting to go back. Any help much appreciated. Patrick

Got my Mom comcast phone and cable upgrade (added more channels for her and at the same price as her "senior citizens" cable and Verizon). They are now charging for "additional outlet" and a DTA... she's only got 1 TV and I placed the order. Never authorized anything else.

[Comcast Equip] Amplifier - CommScope csapdu5vp

I live in new construction and when the Comcast installer came to set up cable he installed a Commscope csapdu5vp because he said outside he had to run the lines to far so needed an amp. Any thoughts on this - I was trying to find reviews and seems like some people have had problems with this model.

[Comcast Equip] Samsung RNG150N and IR extension

Ok so the basement is being framed out for it's grand remodel. In what will be the bar area, I'll have two TVs, and am running HDMI and coax to those locations. However, I'd like to have the cable boxes in my AV/server room. So I picked up a BlastIR Pro from Sewell. So far, I am not having much luck with the Samsung RNG150N boxes. The blaster is positioned over top of the IR window (found that by placing a bright flashlight on the top of the unit, the vent holes in the top helped give away it's location) and I know the receivers are powered up and good. So.... I read somewhere that those units may need an external receiver plugged into the EXT IR port on the unit in order to work with a blaster. Folks have some experience on these you would care to share? Thanks. -- TheGlobalMind.com / Speed costs money. [Price] Considering switching from DTV - Need info on Comcast bundles

Right now, I am a Double Play (Phone/Internet) and a DTV subscriber. I am looking at possibly dropping DTV and picking up Video in triple play. While I usually feel comfortable figuring out things on my own, like which plan/bundle I would be need to compare, the Comcast site was quite confusing. Can anyone please give me a lowdown on Starter, Preferred, Premier, Complete? It looks like I want to be Preferred, but that doesn't look like it has a DVR service. Not interested in any movie channels (HBO/Showtime/Starz, etc), but want DVR service. Thanks in advance for the information.

[Connection] Help switching from old Cathode TV to New LED Smart TV

My son has an older cathode ray TV and is replacing it with a 55 inch LED LG smart TV. With is old TV he had a Comcast digital adapter so he could receive digital broadcasts. His current Comcast package is the basic service. He and I are non technical minded and are unsure what will happen when he connects the incoming Comcast cable. Does he make a direct connection to the new TV or can he connect to the digital adapter and then to the TV to receive the service he previously received? My question is this: can he continue to receive the Comcast basic services with the digital adapter or does he need to get a different digital cable box from Comcast. Any insights and suggestions would be appreciated. Frank

[Comcast Equip] DTA vs STB - any difference in channels available?

I am thinking about getting a HDTV for the basement. Currently have an old JVC analog TV with DTA. My service is Digital Preferred. As I understand it, if I get an HD DTA, I won't have access to the guide or VOD. Will I get all the HD channels from Digital Preferred with an HD DTA or do I need a set top box to get them all? I have no need for DVR capability on a 2nd TV.

[X1-X2] Xfinity X1 now available to New Customers

I just heard a brand new radio commercial for the new Xfinity X1 cable box on local radio station 94.1 WIP Sports radio. But like others have said its currently only available for new residents and customers :( I am a long time Triple Play customer and I wonder if I called up and complained if I could get comcast to hook me up with a few X1 boxes? My guess not very likely :( But the good news is at least its here for new customers so maybe spring or summer 2013 it will be available for the rest of the Triple Play customers. If anyone here in Philly gets it maybe you can give us a nice review with some photos and video :)

I live in the Philadelphia environs and for the second Sunday in a row, Comcast has "paid programs" scheduled on CBS instead of the New England Patriots! Eagles' games on FOX are not affected. Anyone know why this happens?

[Bill] NHL Center Ice package overbilling

Not that anyone needs to be reminded to carefully check their Comcast bill each month, but here's an example of what to keep an eye out for. Back in September, I subscribed to the NHL Center Ice package and agreed to be billed in four installments of $39.99 (plus taxes), beginning with the late-October statement. When my late-February statement arrived, there was a fifth installment of $39.99 on the bill. I called to question it and provided the dates of my previous statements. It took 10 minutes for the matter to be cleared up, but $44.19 was credited to the account and I assumed that was that. But when my late-March bill arrived in my inbox this morning, that same $39.99 charge appeared again, prompting another call to customer service. After another 10-plus-minute wait, I was assured the matter had finally been resolved. Guess I'll be going over next month's bill again just to be safe, but I'm not holding my breath. How hard is it to just get things right the first time?

[Comcast Equip] X1 service - box connection question

I have a unique situation. I get free wireless/wired Internet (50 mbps) from my townhouse complex, but no free TV. I have 5 rooms spanning the length of the building. It appears that in order to get X1, I need to get a Double Play, which is fine (and cheaper than just Comcast TV). I have 4 TVs but one or two of the X1 boxes will be a long distance from the Comcast router. Can I connect these two X1 boxes via my other fiber Internet provider, or must all the X1 boxes in the house be on the same wireless network?

Just another one about re-newing promo

We've been with comcast since Oct. 2011. Re-newed the promo, w/minor changes at least twice. This time, I was sure we were done. Digital preferred, unlimited phone and 45M download. 119 plus 10 for modem and about 12 for "other" charges. Edit: this account was "inherited" from someone else who had them for years. They still do not recognize the "last 4" of our registered account. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Showed my wife how to contact customer retention. Our bill would be near $200, if not for my wife calling CR. They removed the Starz option, which is all re-runs and we don't use. Re-newed us for 2 more years at 109 base price. Hope this encouragement will remind people to stick with it. -- we're all connected
