Hello Comcast Nation:
Was wondering if Comcast has added any new channel the past 12 months? I'm asking as my father left Comcast last year and is yapping at me because they don't show the Weather Channel Anymore in Fios and is now wanting to go back.
Any help much appreciated.

[Content] HD Content: Comcast vs U-verse in Bay Area
I live in the SF Bay Area. I currently have U-verse for TV and Comcast for internet (U-verse internet was slow and didn't work well with my VOIP). I'm going to be moving to a new place nearby and am looking at switching my tv to Comcast. I saw they have a pretty good deal for 50 mbit internet and digital premium with all movie channels for around $120/mo (I currently pay ~ $180/mo without the movie channels). But, after looking at Comcasts channel listing, it looks like their HD selection isn't that great. Only a couple of the movie channels are in HD and no DIY in HD.
Can anyone in the Bay Area confirm this? Has anyone had any luck getting U-verse to match Comcast's pricing? Thanks!

[HD] Fox Sports 2
Wow - just came across something really astonishing!
Was reading a story on PhillySoccerPage and noticed one of the comments was that someone from Manayunk (Philly) had Fox Sports 2 on Channel 737 in SD.
I was like, WTF? Checked out Zap2It.com and there it is in their lineup. This may be one of the only areas around here that gets it.
Anyone else in the Philly area have FS2?

[Connection] Which type of coax to buy to run from STB to television ?
Short story: new (to me) television for bedroom and the TV had to be moved. I need a longer chunk of coax to run from my Motorola 700 STB to the TV.
Which type do I buy? I am planning to get it from Amazon (if they have the right sort). I *think* I remember reading something once about it needing to be "shielded". Don't want worries about leakage, etc. The TV is an older CRT type.
I just need a piece with the fittings in a length of 6 to 8 feet. I have a PhD in Klutz; it would be GREAT if someone could give me a specific item or two to buy. Below is a link to Amazon's shielded cables:

Thanks !!

[X1-X2] New To Comcast X1 - HORRIBLE Experience - Cancelled in 2 Days!
I simply wanted to post my experience so that others could hopefully learn something to make their experience better....
To avoid re-typing my experience, I will just copy from the Comcast survey review I received asking why I already cancelled my X1 XFINITY Cloud DVR Service:
The online salesman provided completely false information which ultimately convinced me to signup with XFINITY. On top of that, the "self-install" kit that I received was completely wrong and incomplete. Upon calling Comcast, I learned that the service order was incorrectly placed by the online Comcast representative and that I would have to wait another 7 to 10 Business days to receive the proper equipment. However I could not wait any longer because my DIRECTV service was scheduled to end in a few days to coincide with my new XFINITY service. Therefore I decided to go to a local Comcast service center and it was there that I was told that the online comcast sales rep had sold me a lie and that the cloud DVR service I had signed up for was not even available. The store reps also confirmed that the kit that I received from Comcast was missing many other pieces such as remotes and companion boxes and whatnot so I simply CANCELLED everything and went back to DirecTV! What a shame!

[HD] Get Ready for "Ultra-HDTV"
While Comcast is still charging us an "HD Technology" fee, it looks like DirecTV is already planning for "Ultra-HDTV":
DirecTV planning for Ultra HDTV
Advanced Television - March 15, 2012
http://advanced-television.com/index.php/2012/03/15/directv-planning-for-u-hdtv/
"US pay-TV giant DirecTV will adopt Ultra-HDTV. DirecTV is already planning its future spectrum needs in readiness for U-HDTV. Philip Goswitz, DirecTVs SVP/Space and Communications/R&D, speaking at the Satellite 2012 event in Washington, said 4,000 and 8,000-line services are great for the satellite industry, and will ensure that satellite broadcasting continues to distinguish itself for image quality of service. We see this as a key strategic advantage for us."
:
While Goswitz did not say when 4,000-line services would start, and it is fair to say that there is still a great deal to be done on compression and other enabling technologies in order to bring these super high-resolution images into viewers homes, it is nevertheless clear that DirecTV wants to see its lead maintained over terrestrial TV, cable and DSL-type delivery services, and Goswitz sees satellite as maintaining that technological edge.
Japans planned introduction of Ultra-HDTV is scheduled for 2020, and will use Ka-band, a largely unused set of frequencies."
Geez - I don't think I want to know what Comcast would charge as a "U-HD Technology" fee then! :)

[Connection] How Line Amps work
I am lucky enough to live in a neighborhood with extremely poor cabling and equipment. I've had a number of issues related to line and signal quality that is on the actual main line and not in my home ever since I moved in. Just this year, I've started developing a better relationship with the local techs and they have actually been great at fixing these issues.
So far, there have been three amplifiers replaced and a main line cable that was found to be corroded (the copper/main conductor). I also believe there is a lot more work that needs to be done as I'm still having problems.
I was wondering how the Comcast Line Amplifiers (the ones up on the poles) work in terms of the frequency. Does one line amp boost 0Mhz to 100Mhz, and another further down the line boost 100Mhz to 500Mhz? Do they all boost everything from 0Mhz to 700Mhz?
I've recently had issues with two channels that are located in the lower frequency spectrum (69Mhz, 72Mhz, and 100-somethingMhz) while others work OK. I also have a huge dip in the frequency right before the cable modem frequencies at about 630Mhz to 650Mhz). When they fixed one amp over the weekend, it boosted the signal from ~50Mhz to 100Mhz and fixed the channels. I still see a dip between 630 and 650. I also see T3's and errors on my cable modem.
So, I'm wondering how the amps work and if there's still work that needs to get done...

[Install] Signing up for TV service with cable card only?
Is it possible to sign up for TV service from Comcast with cable card only? I did the online cart, online chat and called and no one seems to be able to set this up. They all want you to take the X1. Also, with the cable card only, do I still need to pay the $10 HD fee, or is that only if you want an HD box?

[X1-X2] XR2v3 remote
i just found on ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Comcast-Xfinity-RNG-DTA-XR2-v3-R-Remote-w-Batteries-BRAND-NEW-/271792610701?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f481a1d8d that is of a listing for the XR2v3.
Comcast says on http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/cable-tv/remote-program-the-xr2-or-xr5-to-control-a-tv that the difference is that the only difference between the XR2v3 and the XR2v2 is that the XR2v3 can control the tv's input.
but the differences between the XR2v2 and the XR2v3 are nore than that. I will list them.
going from the top of the remote to the botton of the remote and from left to right The color of the remote changed from gray to black, all power button changed shape, they added a tv signal button, the replay button has be replaced, they made the play/pause button 2 buttons, the exit/stop button has been changed to just a stop button and the image on the button is not a stop logo and moved the exit button to bellow the last button, changed the look of the info button, added a Fav button, got rid of the colors on the A-D Buttons, added the word help under the A key, and a skip button is added

Any Shreveport, LA Comcast Customers Here
Happy Easter everyone. I'am currently a Comcast customer here in my hometown of Shreveport, LA, I have Digital Cable and Internet with them
I'm on the forum looking for any member that lives here in Shreveport, LA and that is a Comcast customer. I'm looking for a copy of the Shreveport, LA Comcast 2015 Rate Card
I went into our only local Comcast office this past Thursday and request a copy of the rate card. The girl I spoke to act like she didn't want to help me. She went to the billing desk and brought me back a 2014 rate card
She said these were the current rates. I know the yearly update rate card comes in the December bill. I didn't get a bill because were I currently reside the mail service is absolutely horrible and terrible
I was hoping that someone local in my area is a member of this site and can share a copy of the 2015 rate card for Shreveport, LA if there is a update one
If anyone can help me out I would appreciate and be grateful

[Install] comcast's current equipment
I just signed up with Comcast for first time ever. They gave me a 10 yr old cable box AND a separate smaller box for the HD signal. I'very never seen or heard of a 2 box set up. Why in the year 2015 would any tv provider not have available a box with buit in HD? Makes me feel like they just reached into their junk/surplus pIle and gave me their junk.

[Comcast Equip] Cmod-54004
Hello I'm currently having ondemand issues. It says to unplug then reconnect. I've done that several times. It hasn't worked. A tech was at my house on 4-5 he checked the signals(they were fine) he also made sure there were no filters on the line nothing he did worked. He elevated it to maintenence at that they should be there that day. It's 2 days later no one has been back to the pole. An the issue is still on going. I live in Baltimore md 21225 area to be exact. Is anyone else having this issue? Or has anyone else been able to fix the issue?
