I would like to be able to scroll through my guide and only see the channels I'm subscribed to watch. Is there any such way? I get so tired of scrolling past channels I'll never purchase (like Spanish, or the 700 sports channels, etc.)....

[X1-X2] X-1 On Demand not Updating New Shows National Problem
For some reason my DVR did not record Marvel Agents of Shield last night 4-7-2015. So I went to on Demand on 4-8-2015 and that episode was not listed. I went to my brothers house who has only legacy boxes and DVR and he shows that episode as available. I called Comcast on 4-8-2015 in the morning and I was told that there is now a national X-1 problem with on demand shows not updating from day to day for On Demand. What next!!!

[Connection] Diagnostic Tools
For the past couple of weeks now, I've had a problem where some of the channels will go out and others will pixelate. My neighbor has the same exact problem too, although she is not persistent about complaining about it to get them to fix it...whereas it drives me nuts. Pulling up the spectrum analyzer from the cable modem clearly shows a drop in the signal from about 50Mhz to about 300Mhz. As usual, when Comcast comes out, everything is working fine. They leave and the next day, it breaks again...
Talking to them, it sounds like there's no diagnostic equipment they can leave and monitor the quality of the line for a few days. I find this really hard to believe as it's 2015 and there should be something out there that can do this.
Does Comcast have any sort of diagnostic they can just plug in and monitor the quality of the line, then alert them of when there is a problem? Heck, I'm doing this right now with a HDHomeRun Prime and a few lines of perl. I have to think there's something out there that can do this automatically....

[Cust Svc] Hard Comcast pull (former customer)
I discontinued Comcast services in August of 2013. Paid in full, no issues with late equipment, nada. Went OTA. (And then subsequently moved to a non Comcast area.)
Was making sure everything was in order on my credit for doing mortgage stuff, and noticed that in March of 2014, Comcast did a hard pull on my credit report. Called them, and they couldn't make heads or tails on how they did a hard pull if I hadn't had service with them and how everything was in taken care of in August of 2013 (all equipment returned, etc.). There's no outstanding anything under my name, no service under my name, etc.
Have an open ticket with them to see if they can delete the hard pull. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

[X1-X2] Xfinity X1 now available to New Customers
I just heard a brand new radio commercial for the new Xfinity X1 cable box on local radio station 94.1 WIP Sports radio. But like others have said its currently only available for new residents and customers :( I am a long time Triple Play customer and I wonder if I called up and complained if I could get comcast to hook me up with a few X1 boxes? My guess not very likely :( But the good news is at least its here for new customers so maybe spring or summer 2013 it will be available for the rest of the Triple Play customers.
If anyone here in Philly gets it maybe you can give us a nice review with some photos and video :)

[Bill] Return equipment for a lower bill?
I was using Blast Internet Only for $45 a month for the last 12 months. We are in month 13 so like Comcast is prone to do my bill jumped to $75. I talked to their reps about the jump and ended up offering me Internet Plus for $40 per month for another 12 months + ($10 per month for cable box rental that wasn't mentioned in the chat).
Internet Plus is Blast + Local channels + HBO. I have Netflix and a good antenna for OTA channels. I don't even have cable run in my house to really use it.
Can I return the cable box while keeping everything else the same and save $10 per month? Or in your experience will Comcast make me change my service?

[Comcast Equip] Severe Weather Alerts
Hello. I don't even know where to start with this issue. I have 3 comcast cable boxes in my home. Last evening, during the severe weather in Northern Illinois, the "Emergency Alert System" broke into programming several times. One of the 3 cable boxes that we have would totally lock up, and would become unresponsive until it was physically unplugged from the wall. The box was fine after a hard reboot like this, until the next "Emergency Alert", which would lock the box up.
I called 1-800-Comcast but the rep I got was totally unhelpful.
I don't know where to go to get assistance with this issue. Should I replace the box at my local Comcast office, or is there something else that could be wrong?
Thanks for any suggestions or assistance.

[Content] Can I get Comcast locals in HD only?
I currently have Dish and Comcast internet. Would like to drop Dish and give Sling a shot. But, I need locals. Wondering if I can get them in HD from Comcast. Dont need everything else that comes in a package. I cant find the answer on Comcast.com and the last CSR I dealt with online was clueless. Thanks!

[Price] Broadcast TV Fee and franchising authority
I wonder if the local franchising authority has the ability to order Comcast to stop charging the broadcast TV fee as the broadcast channels are part of the basic tier and the basic tier rates are regulated by the franchising authority. And even if you subscribe to a higher tier of service, they have to include the basic tier which is a franchising authority regulated product.
In Mass the DPU is the franchising authority.

[Comcast Equip] DTA Guide Photo Tour
Starting 12/1/2014 the DTA guide became available in Maine. I haven't seen any decent documentation on how the guide operates (even Comcast's pages aren't specific enough!) so I'll explain it a bit for you guys.
First and foremost, compared to the X1 experience, the HD DTA guide is remarkably better. Yes, no On Demand, no Pay-per-view, BUT it shows twice the number of channels in one screen, AND each button press is immediate (no lag). However, the interface was clearly designed for 4:3.
DTAs now have a "Watch in HD" feature, but it is more similar to how legacy iGuide boxes work than the X1 boxes-- If a program is available in HD (it goes by program, if the program is SD and there is an HD channel available, it won't prompt for HD), a little help bar appears above the SmartBar saying to press OK for HD. Unfortunately, this isn't automatic like on X1.
Also, I noticed that by default the SmartBar was turned on. Also by default are "popup tab" help text. Basically it tells you exactly what will happen if you press OK while the SmartBar is visible.
My final thing of note is that the XFINITY button on the remote simply opens the settings menu, which doesn't make much sense coming from X1 (where you're encouraged to use the XFINITY button rather than the Guide button). However, the settings menu has a nice new Diagnostics tab.
All of these photos are of a Pace HD DTA on Limited Basic service.

[HD] Get Ready for "Ultra-HDTV"
While Comcast is still charging us an "HD Technology" fee, it looks like DirecTV is already planning for "Ultra-HDTV":
DirecTV planning for Ultra HDTV
Advanced Television - March 15, 2012
http://advanced-television.com/index.php/2012/03/15/directv-planning-for-u-hdtv/
"US pay-TV giant DirecTV will adopt Ultra-HDTV. DirecTV is already planning its future spectrum needs in readiness for U-HDTV. Philip Goswitz, DirecTVs SVP/Space and Communications/R&D, speaking at the Satellite 2012 event in Washington, said 4,000 and 8,000-line services are great for the satellite industry, and will ensure that satellite broadcasting continues to distinguish itself for image quality of service. We see this as a key strategic advantage for us."
:
While Goswitz did not say when 4,000-line services would start, and it is fair to say that there is still a great deal to be done on compression and other enabling technologies in order to bring these super high-resolution images into viewers homes, it is nevertheless clear that DirecTV wants to see its lead maintained over terrestrial TV, cable and DSL-type delivery services, and Goswitz sees satellite as maintaining that technological edge.
Japans planned introduction of Ultra-HDTV is scheduled for 2020, and will use Ka-band, a largely unused set of frequencies."
Geez - I don't think I want to know what Comcast would charge as a "U-HD Technology" fee then! :)

New X1 Customer as of this Friday 4/17
I'm a long time Comcast customer and the deal I just got includes the X1 system. They are installing on Friday 4/17.
We currently have 2 dvr boxes and 2 OTAs. 1 dvrof which is old, slow and frustrating so a replacement was forthcoming. I am assuming all saved content will be lost?
I do have a couple of questions.
I will have a dvr with the X1 but will I be able to watch the dvr in all rooms?
Is their new hardware I should ask for when the install Friday? (Box, dvr, etc)
Anything I should know?
Thanks!

Signed up for Comcast a month ago -- not the biggest fan of X1
So I'm not the biggest fan of this X1 platform HD receiver I received. I prefer the old style box and guide, am I able to swap this box out for one of the old ones?
What is the best way to do it and would there be any issues?

[X1-X2] XR2v3 remote
i just found on ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Comcast-Xfinity-RNG-DTA-XR2-v3-R-Remote-w-Batteries-BRAND-NEW-/271792610701?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f481a1d8d that is of a listing for the XR2v3.
Comcast says on http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/cable-tv/remote-program-the-xr2-or-xr5-to-control-a-tv that the difference is that the only difference between the XR2v3 and the XR2v2 is that the XR2v3 can control the tv's input.
but the differences between the XR2v2 and the XR2v3 are nore than that. I will list them.
going from the top of the remote to the botton of the remote and from left to right The color of the remote changed from gray to black, all power button changed shape, they added a tv signal button, the replay button has be replaced, they made the play/pause button 2 buttons, the exit/stop button has been changed to just a stop button and the image on the button is not a stop logo and moved the exit button to bellow the last button, changed the look of the info button, added a Fav button, got rid of the colors on the A-D Buttons, added the word help under the A key, and a skip button is added
